Land Administration & Surveying

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Working Party on Land Administration (WPLA) defines Land Administration as the process of imgCadastral map Colorado Springs, USA recording and disseminating information about the ownership, value, and use of land and its associated resources. An effective land administration system will guarantee ownership and security of tenure, ensure equitable land and property taxation, provide security of credit, and support an efficient land and property market. It also contributes to sustainable land management and key initiatives such as e-Government. In short, a good land administration system is fundamental to a well functioning market economy, social justice and wellbeing, and good governance.

As the demands from customers on Europe’s National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs) increase and their role continues to broaden, the fundamental importance and value of a geographic information system (GIS) to the success of their operation also increases. ESRI’s GIS technology is now the preferred platform of many of Europe’s NMCAs, providing a powerful, complete and continually evolving set of capabilities covering the complete work flow of the organisation and delivering a number of business benefits, most notably operational efficiencies and improved service delivery.
