Ambassadors Endorse the 2024 CLGE Young Surveyors’ Contest
On 29 January 2024 we launched the 12th Edition of our annual CLGE Young Surveyors’ Contest.
We are continuing to widely promote the Contest to reach every aspiring young surveyor and encourage them to take part and complete their application to enter this year’s Contest. Our goal is to engage young surveyors right across Europe and introduce them to CLGE’s activities. To help us get the message out and achieve this goal we are cooperating with previous winners of the Contest who are willing to act as Ambassadors.
As we rapidly approach the deadline for Contest submissions on 15 July, CLGE is happy to present Miloš Tutnjević, our fourth Ambassador for 2024, who advises young surveyors: ”Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to participate in the Contest 2024!” Last year Miloš was the Third Prize winner in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree category with his Master’s thesis “Creation of thematic maps and 3D models of objects using UAV and LiDAR technology” (University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Miloš Tutnjević shared his experience: “The CLGE Young Surveyors Contest 2023 was a pivotal moment in my scientific and professional career. It provided an excellent platform to present our work, networking and exchange innovative solutions and ideas. The contest emphasised our common goal as surveyors: contributing to the sustainability of the environment with great new ideas. Winning an award has been a significant motivator for my future research, highlighting the importance of forward-thinking approaches in our field.”
This is the final week to write a summary of your thesis and submit your application to the CLGE Young Surveyors’ Contest 2024 before Monday 15 July, 23:00 CEST.

Asnate Egle is our third Ambassador this year who encourages young surveyors to participate in the 2024 Contest. Last year she was the one of our finalists in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree category with her Bachelor’s thesis ‘GIS solutions for road display and management‘ undertaken at the Department of Geomatics at Riga Technical University, Latvia. And now Asnate is happy to share her experience with us, “Participating in the CLGE YSC has been an amazing experience for me. It gave me an opportunity to present my research to an international jury, which provided valuable feedback and insights. My journey in the YSC has given me more confidence in the importance of my work and inspired me to continue it in further studies. The YSC offers a fantastic platform to share your ideas and solutions and get recognised in the field! Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity!”.
In addition, she wants to highlight the importance of the INTERGEO fair: “Attending INTERGEO, one of the leading events in the geomatics field, allowed me to connect with industry professionals and organisations, and broaden my perspective on topics relevant to my everyday work.”.

We are pleased to introduce our second CLGE Young Surveyor’s Contest Ambassador 2024, Doğuş Güler. He was awarded the prize in 2023 for his outstanding paper entitled ‘BIM-based 3D registration of condominium rights through integration of the standards‘. After a Doctoral degree he is working as Assistant professor at the Department of Geomatics Engineering of Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye. Doğuş said “As surveyors, contributing to the sustainability of the built environment is our common aim. Accordingly, we are working on efficient solutions for achieving these aims in terms of the geomatics perspective. CLGE YSC is a great platform for sharing these solutions with colleagues and to be appreciated regarding them. In my experience, awarding within the Contest is a significant driving power for future research.”

We are pleased to introduce our first ambassador – Suzanna Cuypers. She is currently undertaking her Doctoral studies at the Geomatics department of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. In the CLGE Young Surveyor’s Contest 2023 she won the prize in the Doctoral Degree category with her topic ‘Planimetric rail positioning using UAV photogrammetry: towards automated and safe railway infrastructure monitoring‘.
Taking up the role of ambassador, Suzanna wanted to share her experience “You can perform an extensive literature review, but in the end, you still have no idea if and how the industry would pick up on your solution. The CLGE YSC is the launching pad for your idea. It gave me the opportunity to share my solution with peers and gauge interests of surveying companies at INTERGEO. It is the largest surveying exposition in Europe and shows the latest innovations in surveying: from hardware to software, drones to zeppelins, and mobile scanners to robots. As a surveyor, you should attend INTERGEO at least once in your career and participate in the YSC.”
