Meet CLGE Ambassador Paweł Czernic – from Contest Winner to Ambassador in AI-Driven Spatial Analysis
We were thrilled to recently announce the call for applications for the 13th edition of the CLGE Young Surveyors’ Contest, continuing our tradition of launching this exciting competition at the start of each year.
This inclusive competition invites young surveyors and students from across Europe to showcase their Bachelor’s or Master’s theses, PhD papers, projects, or innovative ideas in the field of geospatial sciences.
Our winner in the Bachelor and Master thesis category from last year’s edition – Paweł Czernic, has something intriguing to share with you. Currently Paweł is pursuing the development of his career as a PhD student at Warsaw University of Technology and is the owner of the geophysics company GeoHorizon.
Winning First Prize in the 2024 CLGE Young Surveyors’ Contest was a defining moment for Paweł Czernic. His award-winning Master’s thesis focused on pedestrian tracking in a global reference system using CCTV cameras, Computer Vision, and Deep Learning – an innovative approach with vast applications in intelligent monitoring and urban planning.
Reflecting on his experience, Paweł shared: “Presenting my research to industry experts reinforced the real-world impact of AI-driven spatial analysis. It has motivated me to push the boundaries of innovation and explore cutting-edge solutions in the field.”

Selected finalists will be chosen from among all applicants and will be invited to proceed to the online finals. During the finals, they will present their work in online sessions, where a jury will select three winners in each of two categories: ‘Bachelor’s and Master’s’, and ‘PhD and Research’.
