FIG Elects New President



CLGE warmly congratulates Michalis Kalogiannakis on his election as the next President of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG). His appointment marks an important moment for the Federation and the wider surveying community.

This year’s election brought forward two highly committed candidates, both originating from one of CLGE’s long standing Member Associations – an encouraging reflection of the strength, engagement, and leadership within our community. CLGE extends its sincere appreciation to both candidates for their service, dedication and professionalism throughout the election process. Their willingness to stand for office demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing the surveying profession and supporting the Federation’s mission worldwide.

Upon his election, President-elect Michalis Kalogiannakis – who has been a CLGE Vice President and Secretary General – expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him, stating that the result sends ‘a clear message for change, for respect for members, for modernisation, for digital transformation, for increasing our visibility, for financial sustainability, for an inclusive FIG, and for meaningful support for the everyday professional.’

Michalis added that he feels ‘deeply honoured and responsible‘, and that he will do ‘everything in my power‘ to serve the Federation and its members.

Looking ahead, Michalis outlined several priorities for his term, including strengthening participation and inclusivity, enhancing professional development, modernising FIG’s operations and advocacy, and ensuring long term financial sustainability.

At the same time, FIG has elected three new Vice Presidents Winnie Shiu, Hong Kong SAR China, Stephen Djaba, Ghana and Peter Ache, Germany.

CLGE warmly congratulates all the newly elected members of the leadership team. We also thank the outgoing leadership for all their work and confirm our willingness to cooperate closely with FIG throughout the remainder of their term and with the new team from 2027 onwards.
