FIG adopts the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a central theme

We are delighted to observe that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were appointed as one of the central themes during the FIG Working (from home) Week 2020. We are also proud to note that in so doing FIG has adopted CLGE’s theme of the Year which is ‘Sustainable Development’.

CLGE President Maurice Barbieri said ‘it is absolutely fantastic to see this common alignment of purpose between FIG and CLGE and to be setting a global and European example. We encourage all other organisations and entities worldwide who are part of our geodetic surveying profession community to do the same snd also to support their members in pursuing the SDGs.’

Of course, this is not a sprint but a marathon. There are now only ten years remaining to achieve the SDGs by the year 2030.  We should all start before it is too late.
