Geomatics on the Move Awards Ceremony



Today as part of the European Space Week 2020 the GSA and CLGE jointly announced the winners and runners-up of the Geomatics on the Move Contest 2020.

The awards ceremony was compered by Eduard Escalona, Market Development Innovation Officer from GSA. Presenting the awards were Fiammetta Diani, Head of Market Development, GSA, Vladimir Krupa, CLGE President and Mairolt Kakko, Chair of the CLGE Vetting Committee.

Vladimir Krupa gave opening remarks about the ten year history of the Contest and the enduring and fruitful cooperation with GSA. He remarked about the relevance of our profession and the importance of innovation as well as the strategic necessity of cooperation at the European level. This year the awards were made in two categories; Integrated Geomatics and Traditional Geomatics.

We are delighted to announce that the winners of the Geomatics on the Move Contest 2020 are:

  • Integrated Geomatics – ‘Bathymetry from UAV Imagery and Machine Learning’ by Panagiotis Agrofiotis (GR), Alexandra Papadaki (GR)
  • Traditional Geomatics – ‘ALPHAMONITORING SYSTEM’ by Gianluca Calabretta (IT), Samuel Magalhaes (FR) and Gerardo Fortunato (IT)
