Pelješac (HR): A woman chief geodetic engineer in charge of impressive control works

On the 1st of September, a CLGE delegation on its way from Split to the Cavtat (HR) CLGE Executive Board Meeting paid a visit to the impressive construction works of the Pelješac Bridge which will unite the two disconnected parts of Croatia.

When finished this bridge will be the longest in Croatia and the region. The delegation headed by President Vladimir Krupa was welcomed by the two Chief Geodetic Engineers, Borna Gradečak for the controlling IGH and Vesna Kovač for the main contractor, the Chinese Road and Bridge Corporation. A work force of 600, mostly Chinese men and women works in shift around the clock to build this impressive infrastructure. It should be inaugurated in 2023 but already now, in 2021, the year of Women in Surveying, we were especially pleased to honour a female surveyor taking the lead of these important geodetic works.

In the picture you can see Vladimir bestowing the CLGE pin on Vesna.
