North Macedonia celebrates 95 years of geodetic surveying and 75 years of geodetic administration.

At the 75th and 95th joint anniversary celebrated in Skopje, North Macedonia, Director Boris Tundzev acknowledged CLGE’s commitment to the profession.

Please see the transcript below of the address that CLGE made on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of AREC, a CLGE corporate member, and 95th anniversary of Geodetic Surveying in North Macedonia, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, and many Ambassadors from honoured countries or institutions.

Transcript of the CLGE address

Excellency Mr. President, Excellencies Ambassadors, Mr. Director Tundzev, Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Colleagues and Friends, My name is Jean-Yves Pirlot, and I am the Director General of the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors. I am proud and very happy to stand here in front of you today and to celebrate this dual anniversary with you, here in Skopje. Unfortunately, our President, Vladimir Krupa, was not able to join this event due to prior engagements. However, in the minute he has received your kind invitation, it was clear that he would send somebody. So, I am happy that he has appointed me.

Whenever we speak about AREC at CLGE, we are amazed. Amazed about the progress booked these last 15 years. New technologies, new processes, and always this love and passion for the profession.

Candidate EU Members States are often supposed to learn from EU Member States, but in the case of AREC, the contrary is true as well. And this deserves a huge bravo. Another reason of satisfaction and proudness are these acknowledgment notes that you bestow on EuroGeographics and CLGE. I see this as a confirmation, a recognition of our commitment to the profession and I am very grateful for that.

We are forming a nice family, with EuroGeograhics and CLGE in Brussels, in the House of the European Surveyors and GeoInformation, you here in Skopje. It is a strong network of professional friendship, and this is very valuable. Together we are capable of building a better future.

In the name of President Krupa, his Executive Board and the full General Assembly, I want to thank you for this acknowledgment.”
