Since 1999 it has worked extensively on research, dissemination and popularization of geomatics science and technology. The Institute focuses its activities in two main areas: the area of satellite navigation and positioning, which focuses on investigating techniques to improve accuracy, and remote sensing area, which is dedicated to Earth observation from image and sensor data on satellites and airplanes, and terrestrial sensors. Recent projects include investigation of application of the European satellite positioning system, Galileo, for Alzheimer's patients, children and optimization of transport management, reducing pollution.
